The Swiss Handball Association (SHV) was founded in 1974 and is the national umbrella organization and center of excellence for handball in Switzerland. It brings together over 220 handball clubs with more than 20,000 licensed players. The SHV is a member of Swiss Olympic, the International Handball Federation (IHF), and the European Handball Federation (EHF). In addition to the national teams and national tasks, it also manages and unites the top leagues Quickline Handball League (QHL) and SPAR Premium League (SPL) as well as the seven regional associations. With a team of around 20 full-time employees, the SHV operates from its headquarters in Olten. At the CONCORDIA Handball Academy for Women, Switzerland's most talented young players are trained under professional conditions to become potential national players. Together with the national associations of Austria and Hungary, the SHV hosted the 2024 EHF EURO Women's Championship and, together with the national associations of Spain and Portugal, is organizing the 2028 EHF EURO Men's Championship.
